Rescue Heroes: Lava Landslide is a Rescue Heroes PC game on October 21, 2002.
Story[]
The volcano on Volcano Island is about to erupt. It's up to the Rescue Heroes to rescue all the people and animals on the island and get them off it before the volcano blows.
Gameplay[]
In the game, the player controls one of the Rescue Heroes either walking, or driving one of their vehicles around to find and rescue people and animals or find locations where things need to be done on each mission. When the player controls one of the Rescue Heroes around either walking for driving a vehicle on each mission, they must collect power ups like power cells for the Space Pod Exploration Vehicle, batteries for Rock Miner's spot light or refueling balloons for the Quick Response Helicopter along the way.
On each mission, they'll be a gauge on the bottom right side of the screen that shows the player how much power the Rescue Hero they're controlling has, like how much fuel is in the Rescue Heroes Dune Buggy's tank or Roger Houston's jet pack, or how much power is in Rock's spot light or the space pod, so they must collect the power ups along the way to keep the vehicles and other things fueled or powered up.
Their will also be a detector on each mission on the bottom left side of the screen. When the player controls the Rescue Hero they control each mission around, the detector beeps and it's colored bars light up. When all of the bars on the detector light up and it beeps faster, they're getting closer to something they need to find like a person or animal that needs rescuing.
On each mission, players could collect Power Pack Games, which is what they could use to win extra power ups for the Rescue Hero they're controlling. There are two games that players could player on a Power Pack Game. The first one is a matching game, where the player could flip squares with the Rescue Heroes R one them to see pictures of each Rescue Hero they're working with in the game on the other side of them before time runs out. When they find two squares with two Rescue Hero pictures that are the same, they disappear. After finding and matching all the squares with pictures of the Rescue Heroes on them, when they all disappear, it shows a picture of what happens in the next cut scene, and the player is awarded with whatever power ups that are needed for the Rescue Hero they're controlling. In the second game, the player controls Seymour Wilde around to collect the power ups on the ground, and must collect them all before time runs out. If he walks into a rock, some of the power ups will get knocked out of his net, or if he runs into his net, all of the power ups will then fall out. After collecting all the power ups, the player is awarded with them so they could be used by the Rescue Hero they're controlling.
After completing all the missions, at the end of the game, the player gets awarded with a newspaper article of whatever mission they accomplished throughout the game that they could print out.
Missions[]
Gather the Missing Satellite Parts[]
Warren Waters picks up an emergency message from Volcano Island alerting him there's an emergency there. But before he could hear the message, it gets interrupted as something happens to the satellite. Warren contacts Roger Houston and tells him something happened to the satellite before he could hear the message from Volcano Island. He then orders Roger to report immediately to satellite to find out what happened to it. When Roger arrives at it, he notices the satellite got broken apart by a meteor shower, and many of it's parts went missing. His scanners then detect the missing parts and finds out they landed on the Moon. The player then controls Roger piloting the Space Pod Exploration Vehicle around the Moon to find and gather all the missing satellite parts so they could fix the satellite, and must also rescue astronauts stranded in creators along the way. While piloting the space pod, the player must also collect power cells along the way to keep the space pod powered up.
Gather the Missing Satellite Parts Again[]
After all the parts of satellite are found and gathered and all the stranded astronauts are rescued, Roger gets ready to fix the satellite. However, the satellite parts then float off into space, so Roger will have to collect them again. The player controls Roger flying with his jet pack around in outer space to find and gather all the missing satellite parts again. While flying him around, the player must also collect fuel tanks along the way to keep Roger's jet pack fueled up. After all the parts are found and gathered again, the player must fly Roger back to the satellite. After returning to it, the player must place all the parts back on the satellite to repair it. After all the parts are placed back on it, the satellite is fixed up and it goes right back to work.
Report Immediately to the Cave[]
After the satellite is put back together, the emergency message finally comes in. The message alerts Warren that the volcano is about to erupt, and the people and animals on the island are in danger. Warren then contacts the Rescue Heroes to plan Delta 997, that they must delay the volcano's eruption, so they could rescue the people and animals on Volcano Island. He assigns Billy Blazes, Ariel Flyer, Seymour Wilde, Sandy Beach, Rock Miner and Radar Rescue Bat to the mission. Warren tells Rock since he's the underground expert, his task comes first, and he orders him to report to the rocky coast of the island. The player must control Sandy driving the Rescue Heroes Dune Buggy with Rock riding with him to hurry to the cave in the volcano to rescue the cave explorers inside it. While driving the dune buggy, the player must avoid obstacles like big rocks, sink holes and gas vents along the way. Also while driving it, the player must also collect fuel cans along the way to keep the dune buggy fueled up.
Find and Rescue the Lost Cave Explorers[]
After arriving in the dune buggy at the cave, Rock and Radar enter the cave to find and rescue the lost cave explorers. The player must control Rock and Radar through the cave to find all the cave explorers and rescue them and bring them back outside the cave to safety. While walking him around, the player must also collect batteries along the way to keep Rock's spot light lit up.
Place the Power Charges[]
After finding and rescuing all the cave explorers and bringing them back outside the cave to safety, Rock and Radar go back into the cave to place power charges. Since the lava was on the other side of the cave walls, starting to ooze through the cracks, with the power charges placed next to the cracks, when they explode, it'll cause the cave walls to crumble. This will cause some of the lava to drain out of the cave to the ocean, which hold off it's eruption, long enough for the Rescue Heroes to rescue the rain forest animals. The player controls Rock and Radar through the cave again to place all of the power charges, and must keep collecting the batteries for his spot light along the way. When all the power charges are placed, Rock and Radar head back outside the cave again and Rock detonates them, making a powerful explosion, which causes the lava to drain out of the volcano which delays the eruption.
Rescue the Rain Forest Animals[]
After the eruption is delayed, it was time for Ariel, Billy and Seymour to rescue the rain forest animals. The player controls Ariel piloting the Quick Response Helicopter using it's heat seeking scope to detect the heat the animals give off. While piloting the helicopter, the player must avoid cliffs, volcanic rocks flying out of the volcano and smoke clouds along the way. Also while piloting it, the player also must collect refueling balloons along the way to keep the helicopter fueled up. When the player detects and finds an animal, the player contacts Billy and Seymour and they'll ride in on the All Terrain Vehicle and rescue the animal. After all the rain forest animals are rescued, Billy and Seymour will bring them to the docks to get picked up and taken off the island.
Get Everyone off the Island[]
As the volcano was beginning to erupt, the Rescue Heroes must hurry and get all the people and animals to the docks to get picked up and evacuated. The player controls the Aquatic Rescue Command Center, the A.R.C.C. for short, around the island to get the ship to each of the docks where each group of people and animals are waiting for pick up. While driving the A.R.C.C., the player must avoid obstacles in the water like rocks, reefs, whirl pools and water spouts along the way. If the A.R.C.C. hits an obstacle, it'll take damage. If it does, the player must collect repair buoys along the way to repair the ship, or else Warren will have to steer the A.R.C.C. to the last dock for repairs. After all the groups of people and animals are onboard, Sandy takes the wheel and the A.R.C.C. quickly heads out to sea, and the volcano finally erupts. When the A.R.C.C. is out at sea while the volcano blew up violently, one of the cave explorers thanks the player for helping the Rescue Heroes rescue them and everyone gives a big cheer for the team, and Warren gives out the latest addition of the Rescue Heroes News.
The player is then awarded with a newspaper article of one of the missions they accomplished throughout the game, that they could print out.
